Biruk grew up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and that on its own has had a massive influence in his career aspirations. Seeing the real estate industry boom there over the last few years, Biruk was exposed to it first-hand. Biruk now wants to explore it more, and so he has decided to minor in Real Estate Development. Outside of his professional interests, he enjoys watching and playing basketball, spending time with friends and family and traveling.
Biruk shares “From this GEMS experience, I have learned so much. Before we started, I didn’t know much about the real estate industry here, and in the span of a single semester, I was able to find an amazing mentor who worked in the commercial real estate world, and he has guided me through a lot of decisions. Furthermore, I was able to meet people in other industries, through online panels and corporate visits, and it has helped me gain valuable insight into the complex life after college. All in all, I loved everything about GEMS, and it has been an experience I will cherish forever.”
